Hired Sword 2 coming soon to the Atari ST

We’re very happy to announce that we’re working on our first game for the Atari ST!

We have decided to port the great Hired Sword 2, a fun RPG made by Roy Riggs released originally for the Commodore 64, to a 16bit micro computer!

The game will be essentially the same with enhanced graphics by Simone Bernacchia from Raster Wizards, as well as an adapted music score composed by Mike Richmond (who also made the music for the C64 version). Coding is done in GFA Basic 3 by Nicolas Caron (Association GameBox).

It will be playable on a stock 520STf and will features 3 languages to choose from: English, French and German.

The game will be released towards the end of the year/beginning of next in boxed and digital editions as usual. The boxed edition will include a manual and cloth map.

Here’s a sneak peek of the game still in developement! We’ll release a gameplay video within the next few weeks.

Hired Sword 2 boxed edition production delay explained.

3D render of the cloth map included with the boxed edition

As you know, Hired Sword 2 for the Commodore 64 will be released tomorrow (April 3rd)!
While we were able to continue with the production of the boxed editon slightly ahead of time, one last element included with it, the cloth map, has taken more time than usual to be made due to the global world situation.

We waited until the last minute, hoping to find a solution but yesterday, we received bad news: our sole provider for the cloth map is closed until further notice as it’s a “non-essential business”. The maps have already been printed on cloth but not yet hemmed, as we had requested, to give them a nice finish.

After much consideration, we decided to go ahead with shipment without the cloth map. Even though it’s a financial risk for us, rest assured that the map will be sent to you as soon as we receive them. At this time, we are unable to give you an estimate of when this will be as the future is uncertain.

We also wanted to mention that shipping could take longer than usual as postal services are slowed down around the world.

We hope you will enjoy the game despite the situation. Don’t forget to return to the website to give it a quick review on the product page, it helps us a lot!

Thanks a bunch for your understanding, patience and support!
