Fire is a a fun Arcade / Game & Watch inspired game coming this summer for the Commodore VIC-20!
It was created and coded by Rainer Kappler, between July 2018 and February 2019, and is made of more than 2000 lines of assembly language.
You’re controlling firemen and have to rescue people from the burning houses.
All levels includes three scenes: the city map, the road and the house: – In the city map you have to reach the burning building by finding your way in the maze driving the fire engine. – On the road, you drive the way up to the fire again but need to avoid traffic and not crash your truck. The length of this scene, is calculated according to the distance you’ve travelled in the first scene, from the fire station to the burning house. – Finally, in the house scene, you have to rescue people falling from the burning building by
After each level the game gets faster. The maximum speed is reached after 65 levels.
A joystick and a 3k Memory expansion are required.
The game will be released in July. Low price boxed edition (floppy) and digital versions will be available at that date.
Two other games also made by Rainer will be bundled with the boxed edition.
We are very happy to announce that Double Sided Games will publish the 7th episode of the Black Dawn series! Black Dawn Rebirth is a rpg / dungeon crawler set in a futuristic science-fiction/horror theme. It is currently in development by one of its original authors Shaun Watters with the support of the creator of the series, Andy Campbell. Ten Shu (Barbarian+) is working on the graphics and the music is by Mike Richmond who already worked on the Black Dawn series in the past.

Double Sided Games is very proud to announce a third game, coming up 2019! The Shadows of Sergoth is a dungeon crawler in subjective view for the Commodore Amiga 500 with 1Mb of ram. It is based on the Amstrad CPC 6128 game by Christophe Petit & Kukulcan, which gratefully agreed that we port their game!
Saul Cross (graphics and sound) and Colin Vella (code) are already active on the project and the development is moving forward! This is a huge job but thanks to the very thourough documentation left by the original authors, porting the game will be easier.
Of course, the Amiga will give us a wider range of possibilities, and we will make sure to add new features the game.

It’s with great pride that Double Sided Games will publish the fifth installment of the well-known Computer Roleplaying Game series,Realms of Quest! It’s principal author, Ghislain de Blois was influenced by games from the 1980s such as Ultima, Wizardry, Bard’s Tale, Phantasie and Telengard. In development ever since early 2017, Realms of Quest V is already in a well-advanced stage of production and an official release is planned for the second half of 2019.
To play Realms of Quest V you will need a 32k expanded Commodore VIC-20.

Double Sided Games is a new homebrew video game publisher that will bring you new games for you old systems. We will focus on retro computers but we might support less common consoles such as the Amiga CD32 or the Amstrad GX4000 in the future.
